Topic: Technology: It's impact on the economy and our lives
|
|
The outline:
With the relatively recent proliferation of the Internet, cell phones, ipods, digital cameras,
laptops, email, etc, we should really take pause and think about the effect these things are
having on our lives and our futures. Some of the issues we'll be discussing will include
the outsourcing of jobs to places like India, other impacts of technology on the economy, and
its social impact. We will be focusing on what's good about it, what's bad about it,
whether we ought to welcome or repulse the technological advancements, and anything else
relevant to the issue that anyone wants to talk about.

Atmosphere: An informal gathering of regular people
who like to discuss ideas and issues. There won't be any philosophers there,
there's no reading to do, nobody's giving a lecture,
no academic jargon, so there's nothing to be intimidated about.
We have some comfortable chairs, a lounge like atmosphere (without the dim lighting),
and we go out for drinks afterwards.
